There are two different types of clippings: Global and Site.
- Global clips are available to you at all times.
- Site clips are linked to a specific site, and are only available when you're working in that site.
Use the Global/Site toggle to switch between the two types.
When you are editing a clip, you can insert a "placeholder" character:
- The placeholder will be replaced by the currently selected text in the document when you use the clip.
- For example, you could use a clip such as:

to wrap the currently selected text in an tag.
Clips can also be assigned to "tab triggers". A tab trigger is a short text sequence followed by pressing the tab key that will cause the clip to be inserted into the current editor document when typed.
To add a tab trigger to a clip:
- Add a clip, or edit an existing clip
- Click in the area below the horizontal line at the bottom of the Clips window
- Type in the text that you wish to use for the trigger
