Changing line endings

Different operating systems use different methods for indicating the ends of individual lines in a text file.

If you are exchanging text files with someone who uses a different operating system, you may need convert the line endings from one style to another.

To change which line ending style you're using for the current file:

You can also convert the file's existing line endings from one style to another, using the same menus.

If the file doesn't use one line ending style consistently, you may be asked to decide which style to use.

To set the default line ending:

  1. Choose Coda > Preferences...
  2. Click Editor
  3. Select a Default File Encoding
